Isra Hirsi, daughter of Minnesota “Squad” member Rep. Ilhan Omar, promoted a fundraiser for Mahmoud Khalil, a Columbia College graduate who was arrested and now faces deportation over his position in violent campus actions.
The fundraiser, launched after Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detained Khalil, has to date surpassed $360,000, exceeding its preliminary $250,000 aim.
Organizers have since raised the goal to $500,000, stating that the funds will help Khalil’s authorized protection, present monetary support to his household, and contribute to “long-term justice efforts” to carry authorities “accountable” for his detention.
“Earlier than his detention, he was focused by a coordinated smear marketing campaign, with people falsely framing his activism as prison habits,” the marketing campaign states.

In a single clip, Khalil could be seen wearing a hoodie that includes Hamas spokesperson Abu Obaida, urging protesters to “destroy” and “explode the heads of Zionists.”
